So the nurse should always teach the client that insulin be taken in a insulin syringe. In insulin syringe 1 ml =40 divisions. So we can take 401u. If the available form is 40 iu/ml.

But here the available form is 100 iu/ml. So for easy understanding of the client and accuracy of the doasge provided advice the client to use a tuberculin syringe.

In tuberculin syring 1ml =100 divisions.

Dose ordered =12iu

Dose available = 100 iu /ml

What we want ÷what we have ×no. Of divisions per ml.

=12÷100×100

=12 divisions in tuber culin syringe.

So for easy understanding the nurse can teach like if the order is 15 take 15 divisions, if the order is 20 take 20 divisions. The syringe used must be tuberculin.
