Infection control is important to prevent infection and
transmission of disease that happen through contacting blood, body
fluids, skin, mucous membrane. measures should be taken to avoid
infection and provide care to the patient with or without symptoms.
standard preucaitons should be followed to prevent direct, indirect
and airborne transmission of infection. these effective methods
prevent transmission of pathogens associated with health
care.
Underlying prinicples:
Infection caused by many factors like bacteria, fungus, virus etc.
It occur as a chain microorganism passed from the source to a
vulnerable person. the people for the suspectable host are with
chronic disease, immunocompromised, young and elder people.
microorganisms enter through the respiratory tract, mucous
membrane, GI tract, and skin. infection occurs in the body system
when microorganism enters and multiplies in the body tissues of the
host that cause a person to develop with signs and symptoms of
infeciton.
Nursing interventions:
-wash the hands with alcohol-based hand rub against bacteria and
viruses.
-follow standard precautions in work practice to control and
minimize the infection. It eliminates the risk of tramnsimmion of
infeciton.
-use personal protective equipment like gloves, gowns, mask apron
can help protect from microorganism.
-waste management and environmental cleanliness help reduce the
infection.
