Cultural wars are in fact ideological or religious wars. It's between the new religious liberals against old religious conservatives. It's easy to see the conservatives associated with good old Christianity. It's not easy to see the liberals and atheists who are really devout believers of the human rights religion, or even the religion of progressivism, i.e., communism.
