what change in pH has greater effect on proton concentration? pH from 7 to 6 or pH from 7 to 8? I'm thinking that both changes effect the proton concentration equally but in opposite directions in that moving from pH 7 to 6 would be similar to dividing the concentration of protons by 10, while moving from 7 to 8 would be the equivalent of multiplying the concentration of protons by 10. Thank you for the help

How does a buffer resist change in pH upon addition of a strong acid? The strong acid reacts with the weak base in the buffer to form a weak acid, which produces few H + ions in solution and therefore only a little change in pH. The strong acid reacts with the weak acid in the buffer to form a weak base, which produces few H+ ions in solution and therefore only a little change in pH. The strong acid...
