The leaf of the plant can either be a sugar source or the sink of it. While doing normal photosynthesis the leaves produce the sugars and hence are basically the source of the sugar. But when there is no tubers to store these sugars, then the leaves only specialise in storing the sugars. These leaves are called as storage leaves which act as both source and sink.
