can you please CORRECTLY answer this question to help me understand it? thank you!!

E: Assume all of the traits in the question are completely dominant or recessive.

a mother who is heterozygote for hair color, eye color, and nose shape want to create children with a man who is heterozygote for hair color and eye color but is homozygous dominant for nose shape

what is the likelihood that these parents will produce a child who is:

heterozygote for hair color AND heterozygote for eye color AND homozygote dominant for nose shape
OR
a girl who is homozygote doninant for hair color?

Answer #1

Consider all the traits as completely dominant. Let's understand the math,

●For child who is heterozygote for hair colour, let the dominant allele for hair color be H and for recessive allele be h.

Father,mother H h
H HH Hh
h Hh hh

As per the checker board out of 4 types of offsprings 2 are in heterozygote condition. 50% chance is there that the child is Hh,that is in hetrozygous condition.

●For heterozygotic eye color of the child,Let the dominant allele be E and recessive allele be e for eye colour.

Father,mother E e
E EE Ee
e Ee ee

Out of 4 offsprings 2 are in heterozygote condition. So,50% chance for the child to have heterozygous genotype for eye colour.

●For homozygote dominant nose colour of the child, let the dominant allele be N and recessive allele be n.

Father ,mother N n
N NN Nn
N NN Nn

From the checker board it is clear that among 4 offsprings 2 are in homozygote dominant case. So,there is 50% chance of the child to be homozygous dominant for nose shape.

●For homozygote dominant hair colour of the girl child,

Father,mother H h
H HH Hh
h Hh hh

From the checker board it is clear that out of 4 offsprings only 1 is in homozygote dominant state. So,there is 25% chance for a girl child to be born with homozygote dominant genotype for hair colour.
