Facebook – Influence on Buying Behavior

The exponential growth of digital technology has led to a huge change in the way people communicate, share information, entertain themselves and even do their shopping. People are spending their free time on Facebook which has made it a perfect avenue for marketers to engage and influence their potential customers through this social media platform.

Over the past few years social network has grown on Facebook through which people socialize and share information and opinions about everything. Therefore Facebook acts as one of the key elements of social factor which influences the buying behavior of people. Hence most companies need to have their extensive presence on Facebook. Marketers of companies can use viral ads, videos and apps on Facebook to inform people about their products, resolve problems and help them shop through word-of-Web. Facebook has become a way of interaction with consumers to build closer relationships and engagement in their lives thereby promoting the products and influencing their buying behavior. Consumers are either becoming influencers of or being influenced by their peers and connections leading to consumer generated marketing wherein consumer themselves are shaping their own brand experiences and those of others through information exchanges. Customers can browse Facebook page of the company to identify and qualify products, identify solutions, and evaluate products. Shoppers also socialize with others buyers on Facebook to gain insight about the product they are considering purchasing based on the user-generated reviews which often provides reliable product assessment directly from people who have actually purchased and used the product. This increases awareness and knowledge of the consumers thereby influencing their buying choices and behaviors

Facebook has launched Business Manager to help companies manage and organize their Facebook Pages and advertising accounts without being tied only to an individual personal account. Managers can use it to create and share tailored brand content with individual consumers and customer communities. They can start and participate in customer conversations and listen to customer feedback. They can reach customers anytime, anywhere with timely and relevant content regarding brand happenings and activities in a cost effective way. Managers can use Facebook for creating customer and community engagement by sharing brand content and experiences thereby driving customers to buy the products or brands.
