Answer #1

1. A. Coenzymes are derived from vitamins

The non-protein part of enzyme, which is essential for the enzyme activity are called co-enzymes. Co-enzymes are derived from vitamins and other organic molecules. Example- co-enzymeA is made up of vitamin B5, pantothenic acid

2. Facilitated diffusion

Facilitated diffusion is a passive transport where the transport of molecules occurs through integral proteins and it doesnot require any kind of energy produced by ATP hydrolysis.

3. All of the statements are true

Peptidoglycan layer is the cellwall of bacteria made up of sugar and amino acids. The sugars are alternating residues of NAG and NAM, which is attached to 3-5 amino acid peptide chain. Peptide chain cross links with one another and offers rigidity. Peptidoglycan are made up of both L and D amino acids like L- alanine, D-glutamine,L-Lysine and D- alanine.

4. Oxidative phosphorylation

Cyanide is an inhibitor of cytochrome c oxidase, complex 4 of ETC in which it prevents the transfer of electrons from cytochrome c to oygen and hence the synthesis of ATP molecules. Cytochrome C oxidase is made up of iron, which is essential for the enzyme to function. The binding of cyanide to iron, makes the enzyme non functional.
