You have recently been hired as the Director of Human Resources for Wilson Brothers Canada and have HR responsibility for all of the company’s Canadian operations. Bob and John Wilson have asked you to prepare a report for their review focusing specifically on organizational behavior within the company. Review the Wilson Brothers Case Scenario in depth and address the required topic listed below in your analysis report. Marks are allocated for thoroughness of coverage of the ten required topics and their analysis-linkages to appropriate OB theories and practices from the course and external sources. It is not enough to just describe the happenings at Wilson Bros. Analysis should include the effectiveness of the current approach for the topics as well as recommendations for improvement in each. Use topic as a heading in your analysis. While there are no page requirements for the analysis report include all relevant analysis and be concise. Remember this is an Executive Summary for the owners of the company.

Organizational Culture (Culture(s) within the organization and the effect of the culture(s) on organization performance).

Your analysis of the topic should include the following:

  1. Describe the current situation for each topic at Wilson Brothers.
  2. Analyze the effectiveness of their approach i.e. how it helps or hinders.
  3. Make recommendations on how Wilson Brothers can improve.
  4. Link your recommendations to specific OB theories/concepts.

As a Human Resource manager and the Canadian Operation Head of Wilson Bros, I have conducted an Organizational research ,I have reviewed our Current organizational system .In my point of view The WilsonBros company have to be Understand and focused on the following things for the successful management of our OrganizationFirst we focus on the Design and structure of the Organization; It is the basic factor or the back bone of an Organization . Organizational Design is a formal process of integrating people, Information technology .Organizational structure is the formal authority, power and roles in an organization

There types of Organizational structure are :

  • Functional Organization :People are grouped by areas of specialization

Main advantages of functional Organization are

  • Easier management of specialists
  • Team members report to only one supervisor
  • Similar resources are centralized

Some disadvantages of functional Organization are

  • People place more emphasis on their functional specialty to the detriment of the project
  • No career path in project management
  • The project ,manager has no authority
  • Projectized Organization: The entire company is organized by projects

Main advantages of projectized organization

  • Efficient project organization
  • Loyalty to the project
  • More effective communications than functional

Disadvantages of projectized organization

  • No “home” when project is finished
  • Lack of professionalism in disciplines
  • Duplication of facilities and job functions
  • Less efficient use of resources

Matrix Organization :Team members report to their project manager and also to their functional managers

Main advantages of matrix Organization

  • Highly visible project objectives
  • Improved project manager control over resources
  • More support from functional areas
  • Maximum utilization of scarce resources
  • Better co-ordination
  • Better horizontal and vertical dissemination of information
  • Team members maintain a home

Main Disadvantages of matrix Organization

  • Extra administration is required
  • More than one boss for project teams
  • More complex to monitor and control
  • Tougher problems with resource allocation
  • Needs extensive policies and procedures
  • Higher potential for conflict

According to our company structure I suggest functional organization structure type will be more suitable.
