Citric acid or citrate is the first product of Krebs cycle also regulates the glycolysis process and hence affects the cellular respiration which involves glycolysis ----> Krebs cycle ----> electron transport chain. The production of citrate leads to it build up and results in the slow down of glycolysis process.
It is a type of feedback inhibited or negative regulation as it inhibits the enzyme phosphofructo kinase (PFK) which is required for the phosphorylation of fructose-6- phosphate to fructose biphosphate.
Negative feedback or feedback inhibition actually controls the biochemical process and stops the process when the product (citric acid) is enough and hence maintains a homeostasis in the cell.

QUESTION 42 of citric acid builds up in a respiring cell what effect does this have on respiration? Is this a positive or negative form of feedback regulation? Explain specifically how citric acid regulates the pathways (think about the enzymes involved). Why is this regulation of respiration advantageous for the cell? TTTT Paragraph Arial 3 (12) - E.T. General Biology BIO121 Yeast Fermentation Lab Introduction Organisms stay alive by the utilization of energy through metabolism. The energy acquiring pathways in photosynthesis convert radiant energy from the sun into the chemical bond energy of carbohydrates. This photosynthetic process is limited to the producers or autotrophs, which include plants, photosynthetic bacteria and some protists....

10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
