For the given null (?0) and alternative (?1) hypotheses, compute the maximum value of ? that leads to a rejection of the null for a one-sample left-tailed ?‑test for a mean with a significance level of ?=0.05.

?0:? = 20

?1:?<20

Here the alternative hypothesis is left tailed. The test for this test will be rejected if calculated value of Z is >-1.6449. and hence the maximum value of ? that leads to a rejection of the null for a one-sample left-tailed ?‑test for a mean with a significance level of ?=0.05.=-1.6449 (we can use the software EXCEL to get this value NORM.S.INV(.05)).
