Describe two different ways to treat conduct disorder. Which treatment approach is more effective? Why?
Follow the step:
1) Claim - Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) & Peer group therapy (PGT) are two effective ways to treat conduct disorder.
2) Support - Cognitive-behavioral therapy helps a person to learn how to better solve problems, communicate, and handle stress. He or she also learns how to control impulses and anger. Through Peer Group Therapy, a person develops better social and interpersonal skills. Peer group therapy thus helps a person to get out of the existing condust disorder in an effective way with the help of involvement of his or her peer group.
3) Interpretation - Thus, we can say that both of these therapies have their own advantages and benefits to treat the conduct behavior of a person or a child. CBT has a wider range of applications and merits than PGT. So, CBT should be focused first during the therapy based on the symptoms.
