a) Zone 1

b) Zone 2

c) Zone 3

The conditions for these zones are mentioned briefly below:

Zone 1

  • Beam failure:- plastically
  • Lateral bracing :- closely spaced

Zone 2

  • Beam failure:- in-elastically
  • Unbraced length :- moderate

Zone 3

  • Beam failure:- elastically
  • Unbraced length :- large

From the above statements, it is clear that if the unbraced length of beam is so large, the beam falls in zone 3
