The patient recovery time from a particular surgical procedure is normally distributed with a mean of 5.3 days and a standard deviation of 2.1 days.  The insurance company will not pay for patients to stay in the hospital if recovery time is more than the usual time to recover. Would a patient who takes ten days to recover have to pay some of his own bill?
