Solution:

Analysis : A simple reverted compund gear train is shown in the figure. The law that governs the velocity ratios in the gears of a reverted compound gear train is given as:

The driver and driven axes lies on the same line. These are used in speed reducers, clocks and machine tools. B GR=4 INPUT C

Now this when connected to speed ratios we have:

Driver Compound speed ratio of compound gear train N N N T TA T6 N3 N4 N6 T T T х X N, T, XT, XT N TXT, XT

Therefore

N1/N4 = (T2xT4)/(T1xT3)

1750/N4 = (70x54)/(20x18)

N4 = Nd = 166.667 rpm (CW)

Result: The output shaft rotates at a RPM of 166.67 Clockwise.
