1.a) Difference between process oriented and information oriented functional requirements Functional requirements • Specifies what the software should do • Specify the support the system will provide to the user and fulfilling his her work tasks • Contains both process-oriented and information oriented requirements Process oriented functional requirements It refers to the process requirements to manage and project by which a system or product is developed Process oriented requirements specify the process system should do. Specify the process system must perform. For example, Project integration management which consists of 5 process groups (Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing ) mapped with 10 Knowledge areas Information oriented functional requirements It specifies what the system should contain , what the system should do rather than how it should do. For example, business rules, scope of the project, constraints, product features etc.

b) Requirement elicitation Requirement elicitation is the process of collecting information from stakeholders. It serves as a basis or platform in documenting the requirements for application development Following are some of the requirement elicitation techniques Document Analysis is an elicitation technique that analyzes existing documentation and identifies information relevant to the requirements. Facilitated Workshops is an elicitation technique using focused sessions that bring key cross-functional stakeholders together to define product requirements. Focus Groups is an elicitation technique that brings together prequalified stakeholders and subject matter experts to learn about their expectations and attitudes about a proposed product, service, or result. Joint Application Development (JAD) is a technique which is nothing but an extended session to the workshop. In the JAD session stakeholders and project team work together to identify the requirements.
