Answer #1

First Method used to estimate the total utilities cost for mountain view hospital is High Low Method.

High point in calculation July

Low point in calculation January

Variable cost per unit using High Low method:-

Mixed Cost = a + bx

b = (Cost at Highest level Activity - Cost at Lowest level Activity)/Highest level Activity - Lowest level Activity

= ($16,000 - $4,250)/260-40

= $11,750/220

= $53.41

Variable cost per unit is $53.41
