Dear Student before you go through journal entries

you need to know basic concept.

Accounting in Manufacturing Concern are done in the below mentioned sequence

> Expenses are incurred as they occur in cash or credit

> If they are directly associated with manufacturing of finished goods, it is transferred to WIP

> It is difficult to identify manufacturing overhead that are directly associated with manufacturing of finished goods. Hence it is generally accepted costing principal to charge manufacturing overhead on predetermined basis to cost of finished goods. As in this case it is 150% of Direct Labour.

> Overhead other than Manufacturing are transferred to Profit & Loss A/C , as in this case you will see i have transferred Depreciation in the Statement of P/L A/c.

> Generally inventories are manufactured through out the year, they are transferred to WIP and then Cost of Finished Goods are transferred to Cost of Production. As in this Case total WIP = 5200 and Cost of Production of Finished Goods = 5200 - 300 = 4900

> Total Finished Goods = 4900

Finished Goods = 4900*10 = 490

Cost of Production = 4900-490 = 4410

Gross Loss = 4410-4000 = 410

I have assumed there was NO OPening Stock of Inventory hence actual Gross Loss may be different than i have Calculated above

I hope you will have better understanding after my answer
