Answer- Any material purchase can be done only after the purchase order is prepared and approved by the project manager. Purchase order must contain the quantity of the material that is to be purchased and its cost. If the purchase order is of low amounts (like $100 and $200) the purchase orders can be approved by the super intendent. Small purchase orders may not need the cost but the quantity of the material must be mentioned. If the superintendent has to write a lot of stopgap it indicates that they are not planning properly. It increases the cost of the material purchases. Every projects goes through some stopgap purchase orders to control costs and to reduce the storage costs, which is necessary to keep the job moving. Improper planning of purchase orders is not a good thing to control costs.
