You are the superintendent of schools for your district. Your school has not experienced any violent incidents, but because of the media hype surrounding the school shootings throughout the country,you are under pressure to take preventive measures. What actions would you take and what programs would you develop to make your schools safe and gun proof? How would you implement these preventative measures? What are their advantages and disadvantages? How would you target your audience? What are likely positive and negative reactions to the preventative measures?

Preventive measures - First of all, the students will be made aware through organization of workshops on the dark side of school shootings.

The teachers, non teaching staff will initiate a talk with the parents of the children. Constructive suggestions will be sought after.

There are no disadvantages of 4th these efforts as such. But the advantages are numerous. Children will be more playful, happier, indulged and they will obviously be away from ill happenings like shootings.

Further, as children express and share more, the good word of mouth will scatter. This will be better reflecting through the social media use.

The focus on sports, cultural activities, cocurricular and extra curricular activities will be enhanced because these facets trigger extroverted mindsets and will prove as catalyst to cultivate sound relationships.

The respect for the eternal value - non violence will be imbibed in students through creating positive inclination towards good poems. Mahatma Gandhi's inputs will be channelised in order to match them to the concerned age groups.

The only problem / obstacle / hurdle is that the children may need time to grasp the significance of non violence. In the beginning, these endeavours may be perceived as monotonous by them.
