1. The materials passing through the cell is called transport. If ATP is required to move the material through the cell from low concentration to the higher concentration, it is called as active transport.

When the movement of material happens without any ATP requirement from higher Concentration to lower concentration, it is called passive transport.

Phagocytosis is the engulfing of pathogens with phagocyte to digest and destroy them. And it is a example of active transport.

Endocytosis is a process of engulfing the material within the cell membrane with the involvement of ATP. It is a example of active transport.

" Osmosis is a movement of solvent from higher concentration to lower concentration ". It is a passive transport it doesn't need any ATP from this transport. So the correct answer is a) active transport.

2. The solution is called hypertonic when the concentration inside the cell is less than the concentration outside the cell. For eg, the concentration inside the cell is 300 m osM but the concentration outside the cell is 400 m osM. So, this will make the water to move outside the cell.And this, solution is called as hypertonic solution. So the correct answer is b) greater concentration of solutes than the cell.

3. Hypotonic solution is vice versa of hypertonic solution. When the concentration of the solute is low and the concentration inside the cell is high it is called as hypotonic solution. The water will flood into the cell because of its higher concentration. So the correct answer is e) both a and c are correct choice
