If we take example to understand the same.

There is one big enterprenure who wanted to gift car to its top 10 employee now while buying car their employee he will more consider cost of buying a car because he want to give gift to its employee

Now in another situation he want to gift a car to renowned person as gift and he knows it will increase his reputaion and will give benefit to company so now while buying car he will not think about much money rather he is fully focused on his reputaion,

Another example to understand the which you can relate to your own life too

a person have planned to travell so he goes to buy cloth now he will choose cloth which is confortable while travelling like if he has planned to go on beach then he will buy shorts.

now the same person planned to attend marriage function of his friend so again he went to cloth shop now he buy suit of any good looking dress and now he will less care about comfort.

The decision of a consumer does not remain same because the quantity of a good consumer demand at a given point of time is dependent upon many factors. I am taking a normal case where i am working in an MNC on an contractual role. While my working period my consumption of goods was high as i was earning my own money and i did not have to think twice before buying any good. Now after that period ends, i have to take money from my parents and now my consuming behaviour changed.
