1.Think about the new bicycle you are developing in the simulation and answer the following questions:

a. What type of decision-making type should be associated with your product and why? (i.e., extended, limited, etc.).

b. How can this decision-making type will affect your promotional strategy? (for example, where and when to place your ads, what type of communication to use, what to emphasize in your ads, what type of individuals to use in your ads, etc.)

a) What type of decision-making type should be associated with your product and why? (i.e., extended, limited, etc.).

Out of all the decision-making types, I would have to choose limited decision making. I choose this because my product is not about price, its about quality and getting the best bicycle that will fit everyone. My products are made for the people who want to just cruise around their communities and have fun going for a ride. Its not about speed or racing, more about just taking a stroll whenever you want and wherever you want. My product is your classic bicycle that can fit people of all different types of ages. If you want to buy a bicycle, we are not the biggest brand out there, but the price is right, and our product will get the job done.

b) How can this decision-making type will affect your promotional strategy?(for example, where and when to place your ads, what type of communication to use, what to emphasize in your ads, what type of individuals to use in your ads, etc.)

The decision-making type will affect the promotional strategies in a few ways. Having to place our ads in local stores and trying to promote our product however we can. Its tough when you are not the biggest name out on the market but showing that our bicycle is a fit for everyone could help get the sales going. Communicating that we have solid prices, compared to the high-end companies, and the quality is almost the same, if not better. In our ads we will be emphasizing that you don’t have to spend tons of money on the bigger brands because our prices are a lot cheaper and the same type of quality. Also, using all types of individuals of many different ages. No matter what age you are, our bicycle will fit your style. If you want a bike to just cruise around and get from a place to another place, we fit that style. It’s a recreational bicycle that you can ride around locally and will be a nice smooth ride the whole way. We could use young kids and adults in our ads because if they’re looking for a recreational bicycle, we got them.

There are tons of ads that trigger problem recognition because they are in fear of missing out to other companies and their ads. One of the ads I came across was a T Mobile ad that seemed to trigger problem recognition. The video by T Mobile showed many freebies that they are offering, but nothing about quality and making their technology better. I thought this ad could somewhat relate to my situation because our bicycles are all about quality, not quantity. Its about getting the most for your money and we offer that. We offer a reliable bicycle that fits all types of ages, for people that want to go for a nice ride around their local communities. If anything were to ever happen to the bike, we also offer free repairs if you send it back to our shop. That’s just giving back to our customers because they took the time to buy our products. Many companies charge for repairments, but we think its best to do it free. The T Mobile ad was a bit empty, not showing much besides the freebies they were giving away.
