Answer #1

5. The three layers In a broadband service are the following:

a. LAYER 1: Content and service.

b. LAYER 2: Conectivity retail.

c. LAYER 3: Infrastructure layer

Each one of these layers has its own associated technologies, whose functioning affect the efficiency of the other two, and the efficiency of the whole system.

6. These two reasons are the following:

a. With the rapid progress in ICT technologies, new services are appearing and the already existing ones are being improved. As a consequence, in a near future telecommunications will play a significant role in human life, increasing the global GDP as a consequence. Then, patents could be seen as an investment for the future.

b. In many cases, improvements in ICT technologies, as a result of research and patenting, lead to the lowering of prices in many services, which as a consequence leads to a decrease in global GDP.

7. The increase in quality and speed of data transmission rates have brought an improvement in many of the already existing services, such as Internet, e-mail and messaging, then more people will be interested in purchasing them.

Additionally, as new fields of application such as tele-medicine, tele-education, and sensory networks appear, new clients such as physicians, teachers and students are being attracted to telecommunications.

8. Because as rates of services decrease (as a consequence of improvements in technology), more people will be interested in having access to these services. This phenomena will have more impact in developing countries, as GDPs are lower and individual income is lower.

9. As communication networks are more ubiquitous, space is becoming more irrelevant, then many jobs don't need the constant presence of workers in particular areas. As a consequence, more people will be interested in the flexibility of having a ICT job, and more companies will be prone to use them.

Also, as these networks are having a greater presence in all fields of human activity, including medicine, educations, business, among others, more workers with ICT knowledge in all areas are required.

10. The study of this discipline provides the basic knowledge in financial and technical concepts, which are necessary for the venture of projects in this area. These telecommunications projects are the foundation of information technology management.
