A bat (see the image below) can detect very small objects, such as an insect whose length is approximately equal to one wavelength of the sound the bat makes. If bats emit chirps at a frequency of 59.1 kHz, and if the speed of sound in air is 336 m/s, what is the smallest insect the bat can detect?

Here, the bat can detect very small objects such as an insect whose length is approximately equal to one wavelength of the sound the bat makes. So it can definitely detect insects larger than of this size. So the smallest insect the bat can detect is of the length equal to 1 wave length of the sound the bat makes. Now , using the relation wavelength= speed/frequency, wavelength is 336/59100= 5.68mm. So the smallest insect the bat can detect is of 5.68 mm.
