. Six pairs of identical twin children of preschool age were selected for an experiment. For each pair, one member was randomly assigned to an experimental group and the other to a control group. The children in the experimental group spent 2 hours a day for 6 months playing in a room well supplied with educational toys such as alphabet blocks, puzzles, ABC readers, coloring books featuring letters, and so forth. The children in the control group spent 2 hours a day for six months playing in a “noneducational” toy room. The age in months when the child began reading at the primary level was recorded, and the statistics are show below.
