Process control charts are used on the data which recived from various process of operations.

Som charts are

1.Cycle time for checkups and other activities: Activities are listed out and data of entry of patient, their checkup time, diagnostic time etc.

2.X & R control chart ( Mean & Range chart): Data observed from various are plotted on based on range and median.

3.U chart ( for calculating absentism calculation)

Control charts are basically graphs which are used by companies in various industries to study the evolution or change in a business process over time. The companies keep a track of the patterns traced by the control charts to develop the process strategy for future

The various patterns in control charts are as follows:

  • Freak pattern:
    • special cause situation
    • Results from causes having large effect
    • Frequency of occurrence is quite minimal
  • Drift pattern:
    • Current process value is dependent on the previous process state’s value
    • Total process variability of this pattern is quite high
    • Can increase the overall cost of system
  • Cycle pattern:
    • The most common pattern
    • Based on the time of observation of the system
    • Caused when the normal inputs or methods of a process are modified
  • Mixture pattern
    • When data from 2 control charts are plotted on the same system
    • The combination of patterns may be erroneous in nature
    • Steps must be taken to solve such a pattern

In a restaurant and fast food industry, control charts can be used for the following:

  • To keep a track of the most preferred and least preferred items on the menu
  • To monitor the dishes which generate the highest income
  • The rate of returned items in the restaurant
  • The complaint chart of the customers
