Answer #1

When in any pant or factory the fastest production processes are arranged at the beginning and the slowest processes at the end, this will result in the creation of huge bottleneck. This is due to the fact that the early stages of the production process will produce more output while the later stages of the production process will not be able to process the same amount of input.

When there will be a difference in the processing capabilities of different production stages, it will create a bottleneck. In order to avoid this situation, the managers can think of installing more machines with the slowest processing capability.

Apart from this, the manpower at the slowest workstations will be overburdened with the work or production processes as the speed of the processing is slow and it will create more work for them

In the summer and fall of 2010, workers were rearranging the furniture in Boeing’s final assembly plant in Everett, Washington, in preparation for the production of the Boeing 767. It was a difficult and time-consuming process, however, because the items of “furniture”—Boeing’s assembly equipment—weighed on the order of 200 tons each. It was a necessary part of setting up a production system based on “lean manufacturing,” also called “just-in-time” production. Lean manufacturing, pioneered by Toyota Motors of Japan, is based...
