Yes, definitely consumer should be able to and should be given the right to sue the companies for false advertising. It should be their right to sue those companies or business who are misleading them by false advertising for the purpose of gaining profit. It is necessary to give freedom to the customer to sue those companies who are engaged in showing or promoting false advertising or giving unproven information. It is also necessary to teach lesson to those companies who earn huge bucks with the help of false advertisement. Other companies will avoid such false advertising to avoid judicial proceedings.
Advertising is one of the method of promotion and increasing sale of products or services. Consumer are innocent who trust easily on advertisement, they get influenced by the advertisement but it is the moral duty of companies not to cheat their customers by way of false advertising. Because customer are kings for companies, if they cheat them then it should be right given by the law to file a suit against those companies.
