Answer #1

mass of D = 2

mass of O = 16

mass of D2O = 2*2 +16 = 20g/mole

mass of H2O = 1*2 + 16 = 18g/mole

mass of D2O is 2g/mole greater than mass of H2O

answer is 2 greater than H2O

C The boiling point of H,O is much higher than the boiling point of HS. H2O is a molecular compound, while HS is an ionic compound. H2O is a polar molecule, so the attractions between the molecules are stronger than those between nonpolar H2S molecules. H2O has strong hydrogen bonds between its molecules, and HS molecules cannot form hydrogen bonds. The dispersion forces between the H2O molecules are much stronger. d The boiling point of CH,O is much higher than...

how would you synthesize the following Deuterium (D)) is an isotope of hydrogen (H). Both D and H have one proton and one electron; H has no neutrons and D has one. Consequently, D and H have nearly identical behavior. but they can be distinguished from each other experimentally due to their different masses. Therefore, replacing an H with a D in a molecule - deuterium isotope labeling-can provide valuable information about a mechanism. With this in mind, how would...
