let's take two different ethnic group one is yours(christianity) & one is mine(hinduism). i would answers these questions as per my ethinicity.
* my parents & grandparents are also from same ethinicity which hinduism. no, they were not immigrants.
* in my household my parents & grandparents lived in my household. our mother language is hindi but me & siblings speak english language as second language.
* in hinduism, the most important holidays are diwali-festival of light, holi- festival of colours, dusheera- festival of truth etc.
all of our festivals are very improtant so, i would pass on every aspects of it to my children as my parents did.
* in my culture respectful behavior is respect parents & elders, speak truth, being honest, ethical behavior etc. & disrespectful behavior is violence, lie, dishonesty etc.
* traditionally speaking in my culture male were considered as superior & females were as inferior but now our culture has been changing its perspective now a days both are equal but in some backward areas that tradition is still going on.
yes in our culture age matters because in above the age of 19 families started to tie thier children in marraige while in american culture people are open about thier marital status they take time in these types of decisions.
conclusion- our culture is very different from american culture where our most spoken language is hindi & american's speak english. american celebrates christmas,new years eve,easter eggs,home coming,halloween etc as thier most important festivals. many people above the age of 19 started to live on thier own away from thier parenets home but in our culture most of the people still lives with thier parnets.
