(TCO 4) In your own words, describe the different types of OSPF routers.

There are four different types of OSPF Routers as below:

1) Internal Router(IR) - These are routers whose directly connected networks belongs to the same OSPF area. They maintain a single link-state database within the OSPF area.

2)Backbone Router(BR) - These are routers whose interfaces connect them to the backbone area.

3) Area Border Router (ABR) - It has interfaces in multiple OSPF areas and at least one interface is in backbone area. It gathers topology information from their connected areas and distribute it to the backbone area.

4) Autonomous System Boundary Router (ASBR) - These are routers connected to more than one autonomous system which may be both OSPF or non-OSPF network. They exchange routing information with routers in another autonomous system and also advertise the exchanged external routing information throughout their autonomous systems.
