Yes, selective perception can be a barrier to effective communication. It is an internal type of barrier to effective communication, and it is not considered by the firm seriously too. It refers to the particular perception of a person. It differs the one person from another at the workplace. It can affect many processes and decisions of the firm and may lead to unethical and unfair circumstances. So, it is necessary to reduce it as much as possible. For example - If Human resource manager is responsible for taking interview for the vacant position and he rejects someone based on their gender or race because he believed in an unfair stereotype. So, it should be removed from the firm by promoting teamwork and praising each other.
