Answer #1

WEB DuBois in Returning Soldiers segue the fighting spirit of African American during WWI into fighting for civil rights on the homefront in the following ways:

  • He provokes the soldiers to fight for their rights at their homes and it is necessary for the larger good of their nation.
  • He argued for the correctness in the nation that was done earlier and soldiers have to correct it as they fought the battle in WWI.
  • Most importantly, He told people that we would have been insulted and cheated in this nation and now the time has come to fight back and take our rights as a true soldier of this soil.
  • He also gave the examples of French and other revolutions that took place in the world as a class struggle and they also have to stop it and make this nation just and equal for the people in this nation irrespective of their colors, believes and their identities and many more.

All these arguments provoke the soldiers and they started fighting at their homefront for their rights.
