Answer #1

juxtamedullary nephron is responsible for making the medulla salty.

juxtamedullary nephron is a structural and functional unit of the kidney with the loop of henle. juxtamedullary nephrons have long loop of henle extending deep into the renal medulla.

Medulla is salty because in this part of the tube , sodium and chloride ions are actively pumped out of the filtrate into the tissue fluid around it. the importance of creating this salty medulla is so that when the fluid flows down the collecting duct, yet more water is drawn out as it passes through the concentrated surroundings.
