There are different types of functional assay which can be used for determining the hematopoietic stem cell or satellite cell. One of them is the colony forming assay which is an important functional assay which helps in identifying the progenitors of hematopoietic stem cells. Through this analysis, because in order to attempt understanding about the multi-lineage colony, it requires the ability to differentiate the cells from one single progenitor cell as well as undergo self-renewal. The CFC assay is also known as methylcellulose assay and it helps in studying both the hematopoietic stem cell as well as satellite cell.
