Question

Question 38 of 44 Using the correct number of significant figures, calculate the perimeter and volume of a small, rectangular mirror that is 3.665 in long, 1.519 in wide, and 0.063 in thick. Make sure to calculate the the perimeter of the front of the mirror, and not the side. Dimensions are given in inches, but the final answer should be in centimeters. Recall that 1 in 2.54 cm exactly. cm volume: cm

38. ANSWER:

Given:

Length (long) = 3.665 in = 3.665 x 2.54 cm = 9.31 cm

Width (wide) = 1.519 in = 1.519 x 2.54 cm = 3.86 cm

Height (thick) = 0.063 in = 0.063 x 2.54 cm = 0.16 cm

Now,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2 x (length + width)

= 2 x (9.31 cm + 3.86 cm)

= 26.34 cm

  • Volume of rectangular mirror =  Length x Height x Width

= 9.31 cm x 3.86 cm x 0.16 cm

= 5.75 cm3

Hence, perimeter and volume of rectangular mirror is 26.34 cm and 5.75 cm3 respectively.
