2 a) A water molecule is a good example of a molecule that exhibits a strong dipole moment. Given that water is an assymetric molecule with a hydrogen- oxygen- hydogen angle of about 105 degree. sketch the system and show the location of the resulting dipole moment.

b) Given that the dipole moment of a measured magnitude of 6.2*10^-30 Cm. calculate the effective distance of the dipole moment if the effective charge seperation is 10 electron charges (the elctron charge is 1.6*10^15 C) and comment on this relative to the size of the molecule (assume 1A (10^10 m) is the good approximation to the size of an atom).

Water is a polar molecule. It has an electric dipole strength of p-6-10 30 C-n. This is roughly equivalent to a proton and an electron separated by a distance of d 4-10-11 m (about the radius of a hydrogen atom) In this problem, we will use Coulomb's law to compare the force between two protons, a proton and a water molecule, and two water molecules. Use the arrangement of the charges shown in the figure for your calculations. (a) What...
