Plot the chart and the fitted line. What is the slope and what is its interpretation? (10 points)

a. 0.68; for every extra hour of exercise the person increases weekly exercise by 1 hour

b. 0.68; more exercise pushes the cancer detection back

c. 0.68; for person who exercise zero hours a week the age of detection is 0.68.

d. 0.68; for every weekly hour of exercise the age of detection increases by 0.68 years

Answer #1

Answer

we have the regression equation

Age of cancer detection = 0.6752x + 34.165

comparing it with general equation y = ax + b, where a is slope and b is intercept

we get, slope = 0.6752 or 0.68 and intercept = 34.165

So, it is clear that the slope is 0.68 (It is positive value)

This slope indicate that for every 1 weekly hour(unit of variable x), there is an increase of 0.68 units in the age of cancer detection

So, option D is correct answer.
