An ideal gas is confined to a container with adjustable volume. The pressure and mole number are constant. By what factor will volume change if absolute temperature doubles?

The idea gas equation is given by PV = n RT

where P = presuure of gas = constant

n = mole number = constant

R = universal gas constant = constant

v= volume of the gas

T =absolute temperature of the gas

\Rightarrow  V \alpha T \RightarrowV_{1}/ T_{1} = V_{2} / T_{2}

\RightarrowV_{2} = V_{1} T_{2} / T_{1}

= V_{1}\times 2 T_{1} / T_{1} , as intial absolute temperature T_{1} is doubled

= 2 V_{1}

There fore if absolute temperature doubles , then the volume also doubles as per the conditions provided in the problem.
