Answer #1

Yes, i think that poem by Langston Hughes, an African-American writer "Let America Be America Again" is hopeful about the future.

EXPLANATION:

The poem "Let America be America again", Written by Langston Hughes (1935) depict the disillusionment of an American dream and depicts that the US has been unable to fulfill the promise of equality and freedom for citizens.

So, I think the poem is quite hopeful about the future and presence the vision of the poet concerning the condition of America so the poet opens the poem with the concept of the dream and asks people of the country to again depict the opportunity and freedom and compassion for each other. Moreover, the poet also says that he also wishes that America should be a place where each citizen of the country deserve equality.

The country relies on the similar principles of domination and greed which means that people think about themselves and prioritize profits above everything ( leading to land hoarding and work exploitation). The poet is hopeful concerning the vision of America. He wishes that the country should return to its formal glory

This poem was written during the time of the Great Depression which may highlight the economic devastation that America was going through leading to the cultural crisis among people. Hughes identifies with the people or oppressed group who faced inequality and have been failed by America's false promise. Moreover, he identifies with regular people who faced cruelty at that time.

He also highlights that returning to strong work ethics may result in personal and economic success. American (working class) have their belief in the American dream. He concluded that this American Dream can be lived again by the efforts of people who formed the basis of the U.S since its time of inception. The people should rise from the mistreatment they faced and reclaim what's belongs to them. This way America can embody the values on which it was based.
