Define the units of specific heat in terms of calories, kilocalories, and joules
We know that,
Specific heat is amount of heat required to raise the temperature per unit mass.
lt means lt is heat required in Joule to raise the temperature by 1 Kelvin of 1 kg mass.
So, unit of specific heat = J / kg.K or J/g.oC
Or
lt is heat required in Calories to raise the temperature by 1 oC of 1 g mass.
So, unit = Cal / g.oC
Or
lt is heat required in Kilojoules to raise the temperature by 1 Kelvin of 1 kg mass.
Unit = KJ / kg.K
Define the units of specific heat in terms of calories, kilocalories, and joules
How are the different units of energy, calories, kilo-calories, Btu, kilowatt-hours, and Joules defined and how do they compare? How is horsepower defined in terms of Watts.
Use the heat equation to calculate the energy , in joules and calories, for each of the following: a. tho heat 25.0g of water from 12.5°C to 25.7°C
A. Calculate the heat change in calories for vaporization of 25.0 g of water at 100 ∘C. Express your answer as a positive value using three significant figures and include the appropriate units. B. Calculate the heat change in joules for vaporization of 7.00 g of water at 100 ∘C. Express your answer as a positive value using three significant figures and include the appropriate units. C. Calculate the heat change in kilocalories for condensation of 6.5 kg of steam...
1) Define the terms: heat, enthalpy of reaction, heat capacity, specific heat capcity. Explain the difference between an endothermic and exothermic reaction. What is the heat of neutralization? How heat of neutralization for a reaction of a strong base with a strong acid is compared when using a weak acid?
How many (a) calories and (b) joules are needed to heat 58.3g water from 5.55degreeC to steam at 120degreeC
Review Problem 6.053 How much heat, in joules and in calories, must be removed from 1.28 mol of water to lower its temperature from 38.3 to 24.3°C? Include the sign in your answer. joules calories Click if you would like to Show Work for this question Open Show Work
Calorimetry can also be used to determine nutritional Calories, which are actually kilocalories. One (1) nutritional Calorie = 1000 calories, and 1 calorie = 4.184 J. When 1.0 g of a snack cake is combusted in a constant-volume bomb calorimeter with a heat capacity (including its water) of 10.0 kJ/°C, the temperature of the calorimeter rises by 1.88°C. How many nutritional calories (Calories) are in one serving (28 g) of this snack cake? Enter your answer to three significant figures...
The specific heat of silver is 0.057 calories/gram°C. If 10.0 grams of silver were heated and the temperature of the sample changed by 20.0°C, how many calories of heat energy were absorbed by the sample? (A)3,508 calories (B)0.029 calories (C)11.4 calories (D)0.114 calories
Two units of measurement for energy are calories and joules. The measurement of 8.75 kcal is the same amount of energy as ___________.
A. Calculate the heat change in calories for condensation of 12.0 gg of steam at 100∘C Is it absorbed or released? B. Calculate the heat change in joules for condensation of 7.10 gg of steam at 100∘C∘C. Express your answer as a positive value using three significant figures and include the appropriate units. Is it absorbed or released? C. Calculate the heat change in kilocalories for vaporization of 45 gg of water at 100∘C∘C. Express your answer as a positive...
