Answer #1

Approaches medicare has adopted to drive quality improvement at a national level:

Expanding health insurance coverage or lowering of costs by cutting prices or covered services, would not accomplish the best health care as well as the reduced health care costs for Americans. Therefore, improvement in the deliverance of health care becomes indispensable.

Four steps to high-quality care:

1.      Improvement in transition payment systems in public programs to case and person-level payment

2.      Improvements are necessary to implement case- and person-level quality measures in public programs

3.      National Quality Forum (NQF) and a streamlined processes needs support for developing, endorsing, and incorporating more significant quality measures into public programs;

4.      collaborations also need support to implement quality measures using existing and emerging electronic data systems.

These ideas reflect the tremendous potential for further improvements in health care from recent advances within the biomedical sciences and outside of traditional health care to support patients and health care providers in improving care which would help in avoiding unnecessary health care costs.
