A covalent bond formatiom takes place when two or more atoms share their valence electrons to form the sigma bond. Sometimes, in addition to to sigma bond, the pi bond also formed to give much stability to the form bond. Genrally, the compounds which have eight electron are stable. To get eight electron count in their valence shell atoms use to share thier outer electrons to each other which results the covalent bond formation. There are three types of covalent bonds:
1) single bond: only two electrons were shared between the participating atoms.
2) double bond: four electros were shared between the participated atoms which results one sigma and one pi bond.
3) triple bond: six electrons were shared between the participated atoms which results one sigma and two pi bonds.

Covalent bonds form between hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen atoms when valence electrons are shared between the atoms valence electrons are subsituted between the atoms electrons are attracted to the nucleus protons are shared between the atoms
Answer true or false. 1. Atoms that lose electrons to achieve a filled valence shell become cations and form ionic bonds with anions. 2. Ionic bonds tend to form between elements on the left side of the Periodic Table, and covalent bonds tend to form between elements on the right side of the Periodic Table. 3. Electronegativity is a measure of an atom's attraction for the electrons it shares in a chemical bond with another atom. 4. Fluorine, in the...
A covalent bond is a bond in which electrons are shared between atoms of elements. A covalent bond can be polar or nonpolar. In a nonpolar covalent bond, the bond is between two identical atoms and the electrons are evenly shared between the atoms. In contrast, in a polar covalent bond, the bond is between two nonidentical atoms and the electrons are unevenly shared between the atoms. The uneven sharing of electrons takes place because of the difference in the electronegativity...
