Answer #1

Surveillance data is defined as the ongoing, systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of health data essential to the planning, implementation and evaluation of public health practice. The scientific value of surveillance as part of hospital infection control helps in calculating the infection rates.By this surveillance the hospitals come to know about the highest and lowest rate of infections so that each hospital can take precautions in reducing the rates.By maintaining the antibiotic policy in hospitals, helps a lot to decrease the infection rates and helps in awareness of the procedures related to hospital infections. It helps in the internal systematic monitoring of hospital acquired infection rates. It also helps in continous monitoring in all the intensive care departments such as ICU,NICU,SICU,Labour department, operation theatres etc.
