Lactose : A
Lactose is the main carbohydrate present in the human breast milk. Lactose is a type of disaccharides . Approximately 6.9- 7.2% of breast milk contains lactose.
Alpha lactalbumin: B
It is the predominant protein present in the human breast milk . About 25% protein present in the breast milk is alpha lactalbumin.
Approximately 0.8-0.9% of mature breast milk contains proteins. Infant formula are produced with alpha lactalbumin as they are easily digested in infants and it is rich in tryptophan.
Colostrum: C
The first secretion from the breast after delivery is known as colostrum. It is yellowish in colour and rich in protective factors such as immunoglobulins and nutrients. It promotes growth and health in infants.
Lactoferrin : D
Lactoferrin is a iron binding protein present in the breast milk. It controls the iron to the intestinal bacteria and allows only healthy bacteria to survive.
Exclusive breastfeeding: E
The infants are given only breastfeeding exclusively without including any type of food like water, juice and any other milk other than humans or supplements except vitamins and minerals supplements. It is useful for the development and growth of the infants.
Complementary foods : F
After 6 months of infants age , complementary foods are given in addition to breastmilk . It may be solids or semi solids or can even given as liquids which gives nutrients and energy to the infants. Vegetables ,fruits , cereals ,egg are given.
