1) inspecting straight spinous processes : one should Palpate the spinous process and be gentle with the sore spots. Percuss one vertebra at a time, starting from head and then assess the range of motion of spine by having patient bend down to pick up an object without bending his legs while you hold his hips. by this method we can inpect .

2) Palpate is  the spine to determine the spinous processes of C7 . C7 can be identified by palpating the base of the occiput down into the deep hollow where the next bony prominence felt will be C2 and  then C3-5 are packed closely .The spinous process (SP) of the seventh cervical vertebra (C7) is considered as the most important , as it makes it an anatomical landmark for the recognition of other Spinous processes.

3) flexion is a bending of limb at a joint means angle decreases and extension is straightning of a joint at limb angle increases in this movement.

lateral bending left and right comes under scoliosis
