Answer #1

The ans to this will be B or when n1<n2<n3.

This problem is besed on the concept that when a wave tries to enter from a lower to a higher densed medium the phase of the wave is shifted by 180 degree and so is the condition for equilibrium. And there is no shift when light enters from a higher to a lower densed material

There will be a phase shift upon reflection from the upper boundary because n1<n2 but no shift upon reflection from the lower boundary because n2>n3

The reflection of light from the thin film of thickness t as shown in the figure appears violet (400nm) when viewed from above. This means the two rays reflecting off of the two surfaces interfere constructively. t is the minimum thickness. The dark grey material has a higher index of refraction than the light grey with the white being air. For what minimum thickness relative to t would it need to be for the film to now appear red (700nm)...

Help me with this HW problem. Please show all the steps #3) A uniform thin film of oil lies on a flat window glass. when monochromatic light, which wavelength can be changed, is incident normally, the reflected light is minimum for 443 nm and maximum for 553.75 nm wavelength. What is the minimum thickness of the film? Index of refraction of oil is 1.47 and index of refraction of window glass is 1.52.
