Answer #1

3) The symbiotic bacteria provide a large amount of nitrogen to the leaf-cutter ants, living in their cultivated fungal gardens. As a part of tripartite symbioses, bacterias have been found to produce antibiotics that protect both the ant nest and the fungal garden from the pathogens. The antifungals dentigerumycin, candicidin and others are produced by the bacterial symbionts and inhibit the pathogenic fungus.

In some species, some codons specify a different amino acid than is specified in the universal genetic code. Translation is inhibited by chemicals known to inhibit bacterial translation, such as chloramphenicol Carry genes for some of the enzymes of photosynthetic electron transport. rRNA gene sequences are most similar to cyanobacteria.
