In the given reaction stoichiometric coefficient of Mg is 2. Means the given ∆H = -1203 kJ is the amount of heat released when 2 mol of Mg associated.

Now multiply the reaction by 2, then ∆Hnew = 2∆Hrxn. We get,

4Mg + 2O2 ----> 4MgO  ∆Hnew = 2∆Hrxn = 2(-1203 kJ) = -2406 kJ

Now the Stoichiometric coefficient of Mg is 4. Means now 4 mol of Mg is associated and when 4 mol.of Mg is associated ∆H is -2406 kJ. Hence, ∆H = -2406 kJ.

Option E (Last option) is correct answer.
